Nutrition:
WHAT IS EATING HEALTHILY?
Eating healthily means eating whole, unrefined foods, which are high in nutrient density and are as close to their natural state as possible. It is also important to eat a wide variety of foods, whole grains and beans as the foods that supply you with the most calories (staple foods) while including meat, fish and dairy products in smaller amounts. This diet promoted longevity in your ancestors. It can work for you!
WHY EAT HEALTHILY?
Everything you do, and all of the functions of your body use energy. That energy comes from the foods we eat. If you feed yourself sweet drinks, fried foods, bakery products made from white flour and other "empty" foods, you may find yourself with diabetes, heart disease, obesity and cancers. By eating healthily, you're offering yourself powerful defense against the onslaught of degenerative diseases. It also can lower health care costs, increase productivity and increase the quality and length of your life.
IS IT TOO LATE TO START MAKING DIETARY CHANGES?
It is never too late to make dietary changes. Many health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure can be reversed as a result of eating healthily.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO EAT HEALTHILY WHILE I AM IN AN EXERCISE PROGRAM?
When you eat healthily, you are eating the right balance of nutrients. Your body begins to fuel muscles more efficiently, thus building bulk faster and repairing itself more easily. You'll be stronger and faster if you eat right!
WHAT ABOUT SUPPLEMENTS?
Even an optimal selection of foods may not give us enough antioxidants and nutrients to defend ourselves against toxic elements in our environment such as: outgassing from office equipment, cigarette smoking, smog and alcohol.
